How do I search the listings for an event?

First of all try using the Scene Search box on the left:

  • Type of event- select an artform category in the ‘show me’ box
  • Location - click on the box and type in a town or postcode. If you would like to widen the search, select a distance from the ‘within’ box
  • Keyword - type in the name of the event, venue or organisation you’re looking for to view a list of matches. You can also search by FREE to find free events

If you can’t find an event you are interested in that way, try the Advanced Event Search:

  • Keyword – this could be the event name, venue or organisation you’re looking for, or try searching for free events here
  • Date range - search for events within a particular range of dates.
  • Artform – select the type of event you’re looking for from the drop down menu
  • Location – type a town or a postcode into the ‘Near’ box, or, if you want to widen the search a little, select a distance from the ‘Within’ box. You’ll then get a set of results within a certain distance of your specified location.
  • If you're looking for events for children you can also select 'show only child friendly events'

How do I search for a venue?

Go to the Advanced Venue Search on the Venues page to search the Scene Central database for a specific venue:

  • Venue Name - type in the name of the venue you're looking for to view a list of matches
  • Category - choose from a list of categories of different types of venue
  • Location - type in a town and/or postcode to view a list of matches
  • You can also choose to tick the box to view only venues with current or future events

How do I search for an organisation?

Go to the Advanced Organisation Search on the Organisations page to search the Scene Central database for a specific venue.

  • Organisation name- type in the name of the organisation you're looking for to view a list of matches.
  • Category - choose from a list of categories of different types of organisation
  • Town/city –type in a town and/or postcode to see a list of matches. If the organisation you're looking for doesn't appear, try a bigger town or city nearby, as they may have used this as their address, e.g. 'Shropshire' instead of 'Bridgnorth'
  • Postcode – you can search by postcode district, e.g. B1, CV34, or, if you know the exact address, by the full postcode
  • You can also choose to tick the box to view only organisations with current or future events
